A. Modernity is a very broad concept (and it is a product of renneissance, industrialisation, french revolution) typically refers to a post-traditional, post-medieval historical period, one marked by the move from feudalism (or agrarianism) toward capitalism, industrialization, secularization and rationalization.
The Modernization describes the process and changes since Industrial Revolution in 18th century in all aspects of human. We are presently in the midst of one of the major technical revolutions in human history ie. the rise of “modern” societies during the last few centuries. First Modernization had took about 200 years (1763-1970), and Second Modernization will take about more than 100 years (1971-2100).Gunnar Mrydal a theoryst in modernity related modernity with democracy, socialism and capitalism
A modern society is one which consists of: -high level of demand, consumption needs and competitive (over-) consumerism. -High degree of trans., commoditization. -Machine transportation -Less leisure, no time; time is money. -Production for profit, -Rise of mercantilism and capitalism -Increasing role of science and technology -Dependence on others’ skills, knowledge.
In sociology, industrial society refers to a society driven by the use of technology to enable mass production, supporting a large population with a high capacity for division of labour. Formation of Industrial society was the result of Industrial revolution. It was a time of drastic change and transformation from hand tools, and hand made items to machine manufactured and mass produced goods. It is a society in which people make their living from the production of goods. This change generally helped life.
Industrialisation is a part of a wider modernisation process, where social change and economic development are closely related with technological innovation, particularly with the development of large-scale energy and metallurgy production. It is the extensive organisation of an economy for the purpose of manufacturing. It has created a new working class of industrial workers included all the men, women, and children labouring in the textile mills, pottery works, and minesIt has Increased employment opportunities within them.
An industrial society depends on science and technology that mechanizes the production and services, which ultimately reduced human effort. As a result, production increases and which lead to rise in the Standard of Living, high level of demand, consumption needs, Urbanization of Production.which ultimately are the characteristics of a modern society.
Hence we can clearly say that industrial society is a modern society.
