Personal Statement for Law School

Introduction

Every human being is endowed with a quality that needs to be identified, focused, and honed to perfection for achieving professional excellence. After my school and university education in the USA and Europe, I have identified my interest to pursue education in a law school, which will enable me to specialize in my chosen specialization, International and European Law.

An Aspiration for International and European Law

During my education at school and university, I had the opportunity to travel in different countries, interact with different cultures, learn about their laws, and analyze the legal structure prevailing in those nations. I realized that my interest in International and European Law was becoming stronger, and I had an intense desire to learn about the subject in depth. I would spend time in reading law books, international journals, and legal articles that made the headlines in leading newspapers, both in the print media, and the online media.

Moreover, I would develop my own perspective of a legal case by creatively visualizing both sides of the argument. Hence, after careful thought and analysis, I decided to focus my energies on International and European Law, which shall be the specialization for my professional career.

My Academic Background Supports My Chosen Field of Specialization

Soon, I shall be receiving the honor to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from University College Utrecht, Netherlands. Prior to the ongoing undergraduate degree program, I had successfully completed “International Baccalaureate Diploma,” and “High School Diploma,” from The American School in Switzerland, Lugano. During all these years of my education at school and university, I have developed good verbal as well as written communication skills, ability to reason logically, excellent analytical thinking, fluency in English language that has been proved by a TOEFL score of 286 (computer based test), and familiarity with three other languages- German, Spanish and Dutch. All these factors provide me the necessary motivation to excel in my chosen field of specialization i.e. International and European Law.

My Commitment to Pursue Studies in International and European Law

With a strong academic background, coupled with the necessary motivation to excel in International and European Law, I shall endeavor to grasp the valuable knowledge provided through the curriculum program. Since I am already pursuing a Bachelor’s degree program, I am prepared to undertake another specialized degree, which shall shape my professional career and destiny.

Conclusion

In accordance with the requirements of the university offering the degree program, I have the conviction to pursue, and successfully complete my field of specialization in International and European Law.

Personal Statement for Law School

Introduction

European Union is a powerful economic and military coalition of member nations, which retain their independent nation status under the guardianship of the unified body. It becomes important and interesting to understand the laws, which govern individual nations, and the European Union as whole. Since I had the fortune of studying in Switzerland, The Netherlands and the USA, I developed an interest to study about their legal frameworks. I discovered that there were similarities and differences in their laws dealing with international trade, business, investment, crime, and human rights. As the European Union continues to expand, and the economy becomes more global, I thought that a degree program in International and European Law would be a rewarding and satisfactory career for me.

My Ambition and Educational Qualifications Match the Requirements

I completed a good value-based education from Verde Valley School in Arizona, USA, in 2004. Thereafter, I received a “High School Diploma” and an “International Baccalaureate Diploma,” from The American School in Switzerland, Lugano, in 2006. In the current year 2009, I shall be receiving Bachelor of Arts Degree from University College Utrecht, Netherlands. Although my native language is German, I am equally fluent in English. Besides, I have a fair understanding of Spanish and Dutch languages. As I crossed the international boundaries, I learnt about different cultures, and their legal systems: local laws, state laws and national laws. Since European Union comprises many nations, I realized that a study of International and European Law would best fit my interests and abilities.

I am also familiar with the requirements of the degree program in International and European Law. Since English is the medium of instruction in Law schools, I have already taken the computer based TOEFL with a good score of 286. Moreover, I have good interpersonal skills, good reasoning skills, diligence, and good organizational skills. Besides, I have the enthusiasm to study International and European Law, which shall be my only profession that I intend to specialize with complete dedication.

Where Do I See Myself After Completion of Degree Program

I assert that I shall make a positive contribution to the legal profession after I complete my degree program in International and European Law. The program shall provide me with the legal knowledge as I take various courses, case studies, attend seminars and give presentations. Further, I shall get the necessary practical exposure after I take the internship program. Hence, I shall become a confident lawyer once I receive the honor to receive my degree in International and European Law at the time of convocation ceremony.

Conclusion

I have decided to go through the rigorous requirements of the degree program in International and European Law, for which I am mentally and physically prepared.
