Feasibility of Improvised Thermo Coupling for Local Electrical Consumption

This study aims to make an improvised traveling charger that will use heat or waste heat to charge a battery. It is not new to us that we are lacking for the supply of the electricity and being in the modern times, we can’t live without cell phones and how does we able to charge the battery if there’s no supply of electricity. The researcher used scrap materials that can be easily found. They used copper and iron plate, some adhesives copper wires and the normal traveling charger to construct the device. This device would be attached to the normal traveling charger.

The researchers used two tests to prove if the device is working or not. First is they measured the current being produced by the device. The amount of current being measured is 2000mA. Next, the researchers directly test the device by charging a battery. Blue and red lights blinking with yellow lights appear in the charger that means that it is charging. The researchers conclude that it is possible to have a device that can used to charge cell phones battery though not fast as the normal traveling charger. INTRODUCTION A. Background:

Heat from appliances and gadgets is an example of waste heat that can be used to produce electricity. Electricity is used to all appliances that help to ease our life but the production of electronic materials today is highly inversely proportional to the production of electricity. While the electronic materials production is high, the supply of electricity is going down resulting for the high amount of electric bills and shortage of electricity. Nowadays, shortage of electricity is one of the prominent problems in our country. Many researches make an alternative source of electricity but still lack of supply.

There are many places inside the country still suffer from high electric bills due to power shortage of electricity. The more it becomes less; it becomes expensive that an ordinary people can’t afford. This investigatory project was aim to find an alternative source of electricity by the use of waste heat. Though it is proven that waste heat can be turned into electricity, we still aim to make an alternative or improvised device that is easily construct by a usual person – a charger. In present time, cellphones are the most valuable thing for everybody, almost each person have it, poor or rich.

It has a big significance today for its use for communication, inside and outside the country. It also the main reason for consuming a big amount of electric bills – because of the non-stop charging. This study can provide a big help to the cellphone users and to the people that do not have electricity but still uses phones. Being thrifty in consuming electricity is not the only solution to lessen the capability to use gadgets in this modern world. B. Statement of the Problem: This study aimed to construct a device that can help in electricity shortage today by the use of waste heat from electric appliances.

Specifically, this study attempts to answer the following questions. 1. How much electricity can produce by a waste heat? 2. Is the amount of electricity produce can charge a cell phone battery? 3. Is the cost of alternative electric travelling charger is affordable than the normal cost? C. Hypotheses: The researcher will test the following hypothesis at O. 5 level of significance. •Ho: The amount of electricity produce is less than the average. •Ha: The amount of electricity produce is higher than the average. •Ho: The amount of electricity produce cannot charge a cell phone battery.

•Ha: The amount of electricity produce can charge a cell phone battery. •Ho: The cost of alternative electric traveling charger is not affordable than the normal cost. •Ha: The cost of alternative electric traveling charger is more affordable than the normal cost. D. Significance of the Study: This study was conducted to find a way to use waste heat and promote it as possible source of electricity. Its aimed is to find a way to lessen the amount of electricity used by a person and to have wasteheat. Also, help to overcome the continuous shortage of electricity and to construct a material

that can produce electricity anytime, anywhere by everyone. E. Scope and Limitation This study only focuses in the construction of an improvised travelling charger which uses electricity from the conversion of heat or waste heat. This study doesn’t limit the source of waste heat. Any source of heat can do (e. g. sunlight, waste heat from appliances candles). And the researchers prohibit the direct contact of battery in flames because it may explode. Also, the researcher doesn’t focuses on the making of the normal traveling charger.
