On the other hand, there are many unpredictable things that can create a disaster for any company including but not limited to fire, flood, tornados, viruses, theft and corruption.
Disaster recovery is the subset of business continuity. The disaster recovery is the process, policies and procedures that a company should follow to maintain their business continuation of technology infrastructure critical to an organization after the disaster occurred due to nature or human induced disaster. The Toyota Group is best known today is for cars. Toyota is world’s largest automaker by sales.
Toyota primarily conducts business in the automotive industry but in the finance and other industries as well. The company’s primary markets for its automobiles are Japan, North America, Europe and Asia. So, it is very much important that the Toyota Company should maintain their Business Continuity.

Toyota Company stated that its profits fell by 18.5 percent in the last quarter, mainly due to sagging demand for automobiles following Japan’s tsunami disaster and a slow economy in some of Toyota biggest markets. There are several factors have affected the Japanese automaker due to tsunami and earthquake. In Thailand there was a huge flooding due to this the Southeast Asian base is threaten the production of automobiles. It also faced to low there capital income and went worse progressively.
Another strong shock at the northeast coast more and it divested infrastructure, manufacturing facilities and breaking key supply chains. Toyota following the massive affects due to earth quake and tsunami the subsidiary plants that produces the vehicles and parts of the automobiles had stopped production. The Economy also gets a weak signs due to the impact of the Japan Earth quake. The Toyota Company faced shortage parts and it was forced to close the production for several days at the five European plants. The people also killed and left over missing due to this disaster.
The earthquake has damaged the power and transportation, and the tsunami has ruined vehicles that were waiting for export. It is also tough to say how long it takes parts suppliers to get back to fill production to rebound the overall system. Toyota’s vehicles market shares are affected due to the loss of production and sales in the vehicles production. They have stated the recovery of data from the main data base servers in another location to recover from the disaster of the important information. Recovery time will be short and the expected blow due to the earthquake will not be too definite. Toyota stated that they are making a list to see what needs to be done and recover the disaster within two weeks when the next earthquake or any disaster occurs. Toyota plans to implement the three steps that will help to recover the destruction occurred due to disaster. * The first step is to develop the manufacturers to increase the production of components and deploy location to various areas so that if a disaster occurs then the disaster occurred location can be managed by other locations. * The second step is to perform more task of production and suppliers to make more stock of inventory and especially for components that cannot be produced in several locations.
This makes stronger to withstand earthquakes disaster. * The final step is to enhance the Toyota’s functional network with its operational independence of Toyota network. With these steps Toyota planned for any disaster which occurred, it can be overcome through it. So, in future when ever any destruction occurred it is capable to fix the solution of production in the market.
ConclusionToyota Company faced many disasters from the initial stage, it crucial period when the disaster occurred. Due to this Toyota lost the sales, production and manufacturing plants. To overcome this they implemented disaster recovery steps through the supply chain production by maintaining the production plants in various location and data backup servers in different locations to protect their data and their business continuity. Toyota taken recovers plans that can resist against disaster in such a way to maintain their top position in the market.
