The Motorcycle

A motorcycle (also called a motorbike, bike, or cycle) is a single-track,[1] two-wheeled[2] motor vehicle. Motorcycles are one of the most affordable terms of motorising in the world. Not only does a motorcycle has speed and agility. But is also low on fuell cost and can quickly cruise through traffic. There are very different types of motorcycles depending on the task which they were made for .

Motorcycles are divided into 3 main categories namely, Sport for example a scrambeler, that’s desighed for offroad conditions, Standard, for example a poegie for cruising through urban traffic and a Cruiser for example a Harly Davidson for traveling long distances. Over the years the motorcycle has developed from a simple desighn to supreme exelence and is used all over the world.

There is 200 million mororcycle in use world wide, that means 33 out of every 1000 people in the world owens a motorcycle, this compares to about 91 cars per 1000 people. In Vietnam Motorbikes is the primarily form of transportation and motorbikes forms part of their daily lifes. The construction of a motorcycle standardised on a steel or aluminium frame, telescopic forks holding the front wheel, and disc brakes.

Over the years the love for motorcycles grew intensely and many subcultures, biker gangs, clubs and organisasions formed. Some of these subcultures have been loose-knit social groups such as the cafe racers of the 1950s in Britain, and the Mods and Rockers of the 1960s.

Some organisations holds large international motorcycle rallies in different parts of the world that are attended by thousands of riders and supporters.. Criminal biker gangs also have their fare share. The FBI identified four criminall or outlaw biker gangs. The Pagans, Hells Angels, Outlaws MC, and Bandidos They are better known as the big four.

At the other end of the spectrum there is also a lot of charity organizations such as theBikers Against Child Abuse. But the question remains, who designed the first ever motorcycle? The first internal combustion, petroleum fueled motorcycle was desighned and build by my personall two mentors, the German inventors Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach. They designed it in Bad Cannstatt, Germany in 1885

This bike was called the Petroleum Reitwagen that means riding car. This vehicle was unlike either the safety bicycles or the boneshaker bicycles of the era and it had zero degrees of steering axis angles and no fork offset, and thus did not use the principles of dynamics developed nearly 70 years earlier. Instead, it relied on two outrigger wheels to remain upright while turning.

The inventor Gottlieb Daimler was born on 17 March 1834, he was an engineer, industrial designer and industrialist, born in Schorndorf in what is now Germany. He was a pioneer of internal-combustion engines and automobile development. His partner Wilhelm Maybach was born on 9 February 1846, he was an early German engine designer and also a industrialist. During the 1890s he was hailed in France, then the world centre for car production, as the “King of constructors”.

These two men are indeed master minds and made life much more easy for our civilization. In my opinion the motorcycle formed a great part of human history and played a great role in transportation. Think what it may hold for the future….
