The study and application of information in relation to how groups, individuals, and people operate within an organization is considered organizational behavior. Organizations have both external and internal forces that influence the performance demonstrated by division, group, or company in general. These forces generally precipitate various types of organization-wide reaction or change, and as a result equally generate constructive and unconstructive impact on the behaviors of the organization.
Police behavior, for instance, is influenced by wide-ranging external forces, consisting of organizational attributes that supervise, train, and hire police, in addition to the environment within which they work. External Corruption Corruption can either be internal and external. Internal corruption is the unlawful agreements and acts by at least two of the officers within a police department. External corruption, on the other hand, is the unlawful agreements and acts committed by at least one police officer in a department with the public.
Because of the increased money laundering and drug trafficking activities throughout the second part of the century, police officers were usually lured by considerable payoffs by criminals and tempted by opportunities to steal hefty sums of illegal money. The consequence of briberies has demonstrated a devastating outcome on the ethical welfare of the police organization during the earlier decades. New Laws During the last decades, a series of new laws on the law enforcement were implemented in the United States.
This is in view of the fact that the demands placed on police organization have been subjected to substantial adjustments. Consequently, as the demands increased, the laws have become more stretched out. The requirement for police intervention, for instance, in cases of illegal drugs trafficking, family violence and sexual offences against children has become more significant and prevalent during the period (Sancsfacon 2). Moreover, this force has been accompanied by the times’ crime complexities, which necessarily required new approaches and skills.
The new laws have influenced the police organizations’ competence in upholding some type of accomplishments throughout the earlier decades. Public Expectations The public expectations on the effectiveness of law enforcements in crime control and fairness have widely increased during the second-half of the 20th century, as the demand for police involvement or assistance has ascended. The escalating demand for police services during the period is due to the declining competence and inclination of citizens to resolve conflicts by diplomatic means.
Likewise, migration movements and social diversity in the United States presented an additional challenge for the police (Sancsfacon 4). The mass migration during the period brought people of diverse languages, cultures, and races into closer contact with one another, creating a major influence on the police organization’s open-mindedness. Conclusion For the past four decades, law enforcements were being required to implement numerous laws, policies, etc. that have significantly altered the relationship of the State and citizens.
Consequently, major external factors, particularly police corruption, new laws, and public expectations, are essential starting points in shaping the future police organization.
