The Life Of Queen Victoria

The book is the “Life Story of Queen Victoria. ” Her name is Alexandrina Victoria. She was born on May 24, 1819 at Kensington Palace, London. She became heir of the throne after her father, Edward, Duke of Kent, fourth son of George III. Her father died shortly after her birth. She became Queen after her uncle, William IV’s death. He had no legitimate children who survived to pass his throne, therefore, she became Queen at age 18 in 1837. As a child she was gifted for drawing and painting, educated by a governess at her home and kept journals throughout her life.

She was influenced by two men, her first Prime Minister, Lord Melbourne, and husband, Prince Albert, whom she had married in 1840. They both taught her about how to serve a ruler as a constitutional monarch. Queen Victoria was deeply attracted to her husband and had nine children between 1840 and 1857. Prince Albert was remembered for the Great Exhibition of 1851 and he had an active interest in the arts, science, trade and industry. Her children had married into other Royal families of Europe. In 1861, Prince Albert died at age 42.

Queen Victoria went into depression after his death, she lost a devoted husband who was her trusted adviser in affairs of state. She wore black for the rest of her reign and rarely appeared in public but never neglected her official. She was reluctant to resume a full public life. The book I choose is I wanted to learn how the Queen lived her life in the eighteen history. I never had the opportunity to engage in learning about a women leadership. I thought this would be an exciting learning experience to discover the aspects of a Queen’s role.

As an educator, I want to learn what a role of a Queen conducts, so I teach or share with students, friends and family what I have learned. This is a topic I never heard before from any one in my life and feel I could fulfill this topic with others. Queen Victoria is an impressive woman who tremendously amazed me of how much work and dedication it is to hold a reign for so many years. I was so impressed because I never thought a woman would be able to have so much ambition, courage, strength, dedication, and she made so many important decisions and completed her reign until her death.

I never knew a woman could have so much energy to be able to handle so many issues in their daily lives. Raising a family is enough for one women to handle in this time period but to be a woman to have power and authority over a nation is completely extraordinary. Queen Victoria’s leadership style was a monarch who had a high level of prestige and was well prepared to master the details of political life and exert an important influence. She accomplished many important issues during her reign and was a full time job for her throughout life. In 1866, she was convinced to open Parliament in person.

Although she was criticized for living in privacy, a strong republican movement developed. She regained her popularity by her courageous attitude after several attempts were made on her life between 1840 and 1882. During the middle years of her reign she was generally used to support peace and reconciliation. She made several request to her prime ministers not to with intervene with wars between the Prussia-Austria-Denmark war, and the Franco-German war. Direct political power moved away from the sovereign and a series of Acts increased the social and economic based of the electorate.

The acts included the Second Reform Act of 1867, introduction of the secret ballot in 1872 and the Representation of the Peoples Act of 1884. The Queen served her reign with many more accomplishments until her death at age 64. She died January 22, 1901 at Osborn House on the Isle of Wight, after a reign which lasted 64 years, the longest in British history. Queen Victoria exercised her leadership majority of her life by Britain’s great age of industrial expansion, economic progress and empire. She made wise decisions with her courageous attitude and support of her prime ministers.

The sorts of factors that shaped Queen Victoria’s career and exercise her leadership was her prime minister and her husband. They both taught her how to be a ruler in the constitutional monarch. Although, as a child she was already known to be the next person to serve as the next Queen. She was attending different events and was greeted by many people when she arrived, military personnel shot their rifles in the air, and rose petals were thrown on the ground where she walked. At home, she had duchess escorting her everywhere, she was limited to visitors, and she was dressed in a style of a lady with dresses and hats.

Her childhood years did not exercise to play with other children but was treated more like an adult with strict rules to follow. Leadership is an important role for an individual to acquire within themselves to enhance the productivity of what you obligate yourself to do in your lifelong journey. As I was introduced to the early childhood educational profession, I did not expect to continue my passion to educate children at this young age. It took time, patience, dedication, education and I gained tremendous amount of knowledge in learning the concepts of child development.

It has place me in a position with my own experience with my own child’s development, which has emphasized research study on early childhood development is completely accurate. Teachers are perceived as mentors for children to enhance their quality of education to enhance their lifestyle, therefore, teachers are considered to serve as an important person to all walks of life and are seen through children eyes as a leader. In applying qualities of a leader as a Queen in the 1800’s, I would not be able to apply or adopt her qualities in my life.

The leadership I posse in my life is to provide my family all my dedication in helping them every day with what needs to be done, provide food, guidance and make future plans for their needs. In the educational profession, it is another type of leadership I conduct in the classroom for children is to have a safe environment and to provide all my knowledge to for needs, such as personal hygiene, nutrition, education and to have a close relationship with their parents in collaborating with their child’s development.

After reading about the Queen Victoria’s life story, I believe leadership can be taught and acquired at an early age depending on the parents teaching style with their child. It various in different countries how children are raised according to their culture and heritage. Families all vary in every home environment and it is their decision to implement their child to be taught leadership. If a family comes from a generation of serving in a legal aspect, then their child will continue to carry on their profession if they are taught and encouraged.
