Life Prisoners

When a person is introduced to the prison life, after violating rules and regulations, he or she must come to terms about the journey he or she are about to take behind bars in prison. No one can save them, or do his or her time for them, and majority of their freedom have been stripped from them either permanently or temporarily. Prison life deals with all ways of life and is not discriminative toward any race. The researcher tends to discuss about this matter, policies that would enforce an inmate’s need for respect, changes on correctional policy, and why people commit crimes.

Has your understanding of prison life changed? On researchers’ perspective, change is possible for anyone that includes individuals behind bars. Moreover, if one of them prisoners changes for the better, he can become good and productive citizen. This, by the way, requires sacrifice from the inmate along with help from concerned agencies. Life in jail is also about survival. In addition to other inmates, some correctional officers bully and abuse them for many reasons. Nowadays, the crime is prevailing in our country; some of them are murders, drugs, etc.

According to the constitution of the Philippines, in such sins have tuned penalties for offenders which chargeable guilty by incarceration. To live in prison is very hard, the prisoners in jail are experiencing severe loneliness, repentance and mainly, the serious condition of the inmate. Each of them has their own story, some have been accused and acquitted, others proven guilty, and judgment lifelong imprisonment. Prisoners are people like us without one important right and that is liberty.

They lacked freedom. They have no rights to complain even in the food they eat, place where they sleep, their living conditions. Sometimes they are forced to eat meals in their cells, in which they have bathroom, or outside, sitting on the ground with the open sky, rain or shine. In certain wards, prisoners have to sleep in shifts owing the lack of space. In addition to this substantial suffering is the violent behavior of other inmates and some officers who are facilitating them.

Some guards beat prisoners without reason. Violence can really traumatize a human's mental state permanently and this can lead to discipline problems in jail. Another point concerning staff in prison is the irregularity of guards' visits. It can be unfavorable to the rights of prisoners because it is impossible for prisoners to develop a normal daily life. To conclude, the researcher wants to say that prisoners' moral can be affected in a negative way during their living in prison.
