In U. S. politics, a government shutdown is the name for the process the Executive Branch must enter into when the Congress creates a “funding gap” by choosing or failing to pass legislation funding government operations and agencies. The government shutdown would not be entirely shutdown, federal agencies have prepared plans to continue programs they deem critical to maintaining public safety and protecting property despite the shutdown. Employees who perform those critical functions will continue to work and get paid.
The United States federal government shutdown of this year was started at October 1, 2013. THE FACT ABOUT GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN Basically the cause lead to the government shutdown was that Congress can’t agree on a spending budget. And the president vetoes it, the government would not have the legal right to spend the money. The U. S. Constitution requires that all expenditures of federal funds be authorized by Congress with the approval of the President of the United States. The U. S. federal government and the federal budget process operate on a fiscal year cycle running from October 1 to midnight September 30.
If Congress fails to pass all of the spending bills comprising the annual federal budget or “continuing resolutions” extending spending beyond the end of the fiscal year; or if the president fails to sign or vetoes any of the individual spending bills, certain non-essential functions of the government may be forced to cease due to a lack of congressionally-authorized funding. The result is a government shutdown. With the federal government now partially shut down, many government services and agencies are closed, suspended or otherwise impacted.
Disagreements The Republicans and the Democrats have always and will always have their major differences. This shutdown has been mostly caused by the Republicans because they disagree on many serious factors including Obamacare. Even though Obamacare is the main focus of this shutdown, there are other disagreements in this shutdown. One of the disagreements is about the death penalty. The democrats want the death penalty to be legal. They want to protect the innocent people that have been wrong-fully convicted and are on death row.
To democrats, killing an innocent man or woman for something he or she did not do outweighs all other risks. The Republicans, on the other hand, want to keep the death penalty legal. They want to protect the juror’s right and judgment to choose to sentence a man or woman criminal to their death. Another disagreement they have is about abortion. The Republicans believe in Pro Life and not killing an innocent child. They do not agree with somebody having the choice to end an innocent baby’s life just because it wasn’t planned or they just don’t feel like having a child.
The Democrats believe in letting the woman decide if she wants to have the child or not. They understand that they are some situations where no one would want to bring a child into. Another major disagreement between the Republicans and the Democrats is about guns. The Democrats believe that guns are an offensive tool of aggression. They believe that the more people that have private ownerships of guns decreases the government’s ability to restrain and control the public in national crisis events.
The Republicans believe that guns are needed so American citizens can protect themselves when they are in danger. They believe that guns are a defensive tool of aggression. Many people believe the shutdown occurred because of the Obama care bill only. This is not the case at all though. The main reason is because we the republicans want to raise the debt ceil or other words the nation’s borrowing limit. We the republican want the debt limit raised because after breaching the limit there would be a predicted 4. 2 drop in annualized GDP.
Along with the unemployment increasing and there would be a possibility that social security checks would stop going out soon after. This is problem we do not want to face in the future. So we need to raise this debt limit because of the bill that Obama passed for Obama care. This bill will not fit into the budget causing America to reach and breach the debt limit that we have already had set. All this spending will have a correlating affect causing taxes to increase affecting all Americans. So even though we don’t like the democrat’s decision to provide a health care plan that will available to all Americans because of the affect it will have on taxes.
We can’t argue that because it isn’t a strong enough argument. But the argument of it surpassing are debt limit is because going over this limit will have a significant effect on the nation. Causing all the problems we stated earlier. Budgets All Americans want to improve our health care system. We were all promised that Obamacare would “reduce spiraling health care costs;” “not add one penny to the deficit;” allow citizens to “keep your doctor;” “keep your current insurance;” “lower your premiums;” “provide affordable coverage to all Americans;” “prevent insurance companies from dropping your coverage if you get sick;” “prevent insurers from excluding you due to preexisting conditions;” “lower administrative costs;” “improve care with computerized medical records. “
But why there are so many arguments about the Obamacare? For all of the disagreements, cost is the most important thing. Senator Judd Gregg, the ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee, calculated that Obamacare will cost $2. 5 trillion dollars over ten years. Americans were ticked-off at the spending of President Bush.
In 2008, the annual federal budget deficit was at a record high of $459 billion. By 2009, Mr. Obama had nearly tripled it to $1. 4 trillion, almost 9 times higher than it had been just 2 years earlier. This does not include Obamacare spending. Mr. Obama do all the costs than budget, that will lead to economic recession. And another important disagreement is about Taxes and Fines. Taxes will increase for those who are sick because Obamacare allows less money to be deducted for medical expenses on income tax returns. Instead of deducting expenses that exceed 7.
5% of income, you will need to spend 10% of your income on medical expenses before you can claim the deduction. Most of the people who take this deduction earn less than $50,000 per year. That’s affect citizen’s benefits. And there are many disagreements with Obamacare planning. For example, under the new Obama health plan, your physician is required to enter all information for each patient, including all treatments, into a government electronic database. That’s something privacy. For all this talked about, Obamacare planning is not a good thing for developing economy.
