Coronary artery disease

Introduction and Thesis statementDoes an apple a day keeps the Doctor? I believe the word apple in this quote signify healthy eating, so the author simply meant to say, eating healthy will reducing your risk of having certain health issues; therefore you will not be making countless trips to a hospital.

For example, did you know that the number one cause of death in America is health related? And one of the reasons for most of these health related disease is a pore diet. Just think, a healthier diet could mean a longer life-span. Though many individuals do not see the value or benefits of eating healthy, a healthy diet is the most important aspect of the human body.

Why is eating healthy important? Before someone can truly understand why a healthy diet is important, they must first understand the value and meaning of health. Your health is the most important aspect in your life that will affect your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual capabilities. What we eat will contribute the most toward our health; it can either improve it or destroy it.

This is why a healthy diet is so essential in our development. Healthy eating means that you are consuming a variety of food that produce a balance of nutrients that your body needs to maintain your health. These very important nutrients are minerals, vitamins, protein, carbohydrates, fat, and water. These nutrients are very important because they help strengthen your immune system, which fights back again certain bacteria and viruses that may cause illness. Without these nutrients, your immune system will weaken, and your chances of becoming overweight or obese are higher.

Eating healthy is not always easy for some individual to abandon their unhealthy eating habits and start a new one. No, it is not easy, but it is not impossible. What you eat is entirely up to you, the power to change your diet is in your hands, literally. So, when making the decision of what to eat, consider the affects it will have on your body.

What is the danger of not maintaining a healthy diet?In 2009 the WebMD Health News survey reported by Bill Hendrick stated “63.1% of adults in the U.S were either overweight or obese.” Experts believe obese is responsible for more illness than smoking. You have a higher chance of

obtaining diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, gallstones, indigestion, and some cancers. Here is the bad news; this survey was 4 years ago. These numbers have dramatically increased, leaving the U.S. currently at a critical condition. The health related problems we are facing are not affecting our children. More of our young people are become obese before the age of 15 years old, and are being diagnose with diabetes. I believe it is time to reconsider your food choices for yourself and household, and consider the benefit of a healthy diet.

What are the benefits of a healthy diet?A good balance of fruits and vegetable will give your body the energy and nutrient that it needs to function. There are several benefits of a healthy diet, but let us review a few key benefits of eating healthy. For example, eating fruits and vegetables may reduce risk of cardiovascular diseases. It can also reduce the risk of coronary artery disease, type 2 diabetes, protect you against some cancers, and strengthen your bones.

With fruits and vegetable, you’re gaining vitamin A, vitamin C, and Vitamin E. You also gain folic acid, and dietary fiber, which are essential to weight-management and maintaining a healthy blood pressure.

Vitamin A helps with your eyes and skin, and protect against infections. Vitamin C helps with your iron absorption, and keeps your teeth and gums healthy. Vitamin E is a fat soluble antioxidant, which also protect vitamin A. When considering a healthy change in your diet, you must remember you’re not going on a diet, but simply changing to a healthier selection of food.

The difference between diets is you’re giving up a large amount of food, and will become hungry. When you switch to a healthy diet, you’re eating a more satisfying food that will fill you up while providing you with the right calories and nutrient you need.

You will be energized and complete daily task more effectively. A healthy meal takes less to fill you up than eating an unhealthy meal, which will cause you to lose the unhealthy fat. Overtime you will feel stronger, less stressed, and more focused during your everyday activities. Not only does eating a balance diet benefits you, but it also benefits your love ones by ensuring them that you’re in good health, and they will follow your example.

ConclusionIn conclusion, after reviewing all the damage that an unhealthy diet can cause to our body, it is clear to me just how important and valuable a healthy diet is. Not only to you as an individual, but also for your family and those who care about you. We do not have the power to chance someone’s eating habits, but we can inform them of the risks and benefits like you have just been informed. So, does an apple a day keeps the Doctor away? It sure does.
