How effective is the Tripartite regulation regime in accomplishing the dual functions of policing the United Kingdom banking system, while protecting the financial markets of the United Kingdom as a whole? Is the Tripartite a successful coalition of government agencies in averting national financial catastrophes, or, does it create more problems than it solves? Formed in 1997, the Northern Rock Bank was an offshoot of the Northern Rock Building Society, specializing in investment banking and participating in the liquid market of the London Stock Exchange.
